Recently, a Yantai youth exchange delegation traveled to Miskolc, Hungary, an international sister city, to participate in an international sister-city youth summer camp. During the event, the "Yantai Memory" series urban cultural and creative gift boxes, originally designed by the School of Art and Design of Shandong Business Institute, went to Hungary with the delegation. With creative designs featuring distinctive Yantai characteristics, they showcased Yantai's urban culture and Jiaodong regional features to overseas youth, becoming a vivid practice of the school leveraging its professional strengths, serving local foreign exchanges, and promoting vocational education achievements onto the international exchange stage.

This international sister-city youth summer camp brought together youth representatives from Yantai, Miskolc, and other countries and regions. During the event, young people from various countries enhanced mutual understanding through exchanges and discussions, sports and cultural interactions, cultural displays, and other activities. As a distinctive vehicle for spreading Yantai's urban culture, the "Yantai Memory" series cultural and creative gift boxes originally designed by Shandong Business Institute also appeared at the event and were presented as cultural gifts to foreign teachers and students.

The "Yantai Memory" series cultural and creative products are creatively designed based on Yantai's regional culture. They incorporate representative urban landmarks, historical culture, and mountain-sea elements such as Penglai Pavilion, Yantai Mountain Lighthouse, Yangma Island, and Suochengli into product design. Through youthful and visual design language, they condense Yantai's coastal scenery, historical context, and urban memories into each cultural and creative work.

During the event, the cultural and creative products with distinctive Yantai characteristics captured the attention of foreign teachers and students. Through product patterns and design elements, they learned about Yantai's urban appearance and Jiaodong culture, and showed keen interest in the regional characteristics and creative design displayed by the works. These small, exquisite cultural and creative products traveled thousands of miles, transforming from classroom teaching and professional practice results into cultural tokens of Sino-foreign people-to-people exchange. They enabled overseas youth to know and experience Yantai through design, and also allowed the professional achievements of vocational college teachers and students to be displayed more intuitively in international exchange activities.

In recent years, based on the needs of serving local economic and social development and opening-up, the school has fully leveraged its professional strengths in art and design and actively promoted the integration of professional teaching, cultural inheritance, and international exchange. The School of International Education (Office of International Exchange) of the school, centering on local foreign exchange and Sino-foreign people-to-people exchange needs, has actively built a matchmaking platform between on-campus professional resources and international exchange activities. It promotes original works by teachers and students of the School of Art and Design to serve international sister-city exchanges, visits by foreign guests, people-to-people exchanges, and other foreign-related activities, enabling professional development achievements to be transformed and applied in real international exchange scenarios.

During the process, the school focuses on tapping Yantai's regional cultural resources, guiding teachers and students to combine professional learning with urban cultural dissemination, and transforming regional cultural elements into design works with recognition and dissemination power. This not only provides students with a professional practice platform close to actual needs, but also continuously expands new paths for vocational education to serve local cultural dissemination and international exchange.

The debut of the "Yantai Memory" series cultural and creative products in Hungary is a concrete practice of the school leveraging its professional characteristics to serve Yantai's international sister-city exchanges, and another achievement in the school's exploration of integrated development of "professional education + cultural dissemination + international exchange." Through the international sister-city youth exchange platform, original design works by the school's teachers and students have reached Central and Eastern Europe. Using cultural and creative products as a medium, they showcase Yantai's urban culture to overseas youth, while also presenting Shandong's vocational education talent cultivation and creative design achievements, further enriching the content and forms of local international people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

In the next step, the school will continue to base itself on its educational characteristics and professional strengths, strengthen the integration of regional cultural resources and professional talent cultivation, and continue to launch cultural and creative achievements with Yantai characteristics and contemporary appeal. Relying on its international exchange and cooperation platform, it will actively serve local foreign exchanges and Sino-foreign people-to-people and cultural exchanges, tell Yantai's story well and spread Qilu culture through distinctive vocational education achievements, and contribute vocational education strength to Yantai's expansion of international exchange and cooperation and deepening of international sister-city exchanges.
