"Golden Classic II Cup" China Jiaodong Premium Cherry Competition Concludes Successfully with Over 100 Cherry Entries on Display

On June 6, the "Golden Classic II Cup" China Jiaodong Premium Cherry Competition wrapped up successfully at Yantai Radio and Television Building. Bringing together high-quality cherry resources across the Jiaodong region, the event built bridges through competitions and fostered connections via fine fruits. It fully showcased the superior quality of Jiaodong large cherries and the new look of industrial development, serving as an excellent exchange platform for the quality improvement and upgrading of characteristic forest and fruit industries.

The event featured a spectacular display of abundant fruits. More than 100 premium cherry samples from all parts of Jiaodong competed side by side. Bright red and golden-yellow cherries boasted plump flesh and vivid hues, arranged neatly in an eye-catching array that highlighted the outstanding quality of Jiaodong cherries. Entries covered over 20 cherry varieties, including more than 10 newly bred premium cultivars, fully demonstrating the continuous iteration of cherry varieties and ongoing innovation of the Jiaodong cherry industry.

The competition was not only a platform for fruit quality evaluation but also a classroom for agricultural technology enhancement. Senior veteran agronomists were invited on-site to answer questions and deliver hands-on popular science sessions. They addressed thorny challenges encountered by growers in fertilization management, fruit cracking prevention, frost damage protection and other areas, elaborating practical techniques for scientific cultivation, refined orchard maintenance, and pest, disease, and disaster control. The targeted guidance helped resolve pain points in field cultivation and supported fruit farmers in stable yields and increased incomes.

At the same time, a host of new superior cherry varieties including Yanying No.10, Yanying No.15, Yanying No.17, Ming 5-5 and Jurenwang were showcased and promoted at the event. With their outstanding advantages of high yield, good stress resistance, and excellent quality, these varieties drew widespread attention from fruit farmers and industry practitioners, offering diverse options for updating Jiaodong cherry varieties and optimizing industrial structure.
