On April 20, the "Haiyu Chaoguang" (Sea Island Tide Light) themed event of the 2026 China-Korea International Fashion Week (Yantai) opened in the Yantai High-tech Zone. The event brought together fashion forces from China and Korea, playing a brand-new movement in cross-border cultural exchange.

With "mountains and sea as the backdrop, and a dialogue between ancient and modern" as its core design concept, the fashion week innovatively integrated three major segments: an AI digital show, a China Chic intangible heritage show, and a ready-to-wear show featuring Chinese and Korean trendy fashion brands.

During the event, brands such as Xiangshang, Shiliu Yuanzi, and the century-old Chinese brand Qiyuan took turns on the runway, interpreting Chinese fashion and intangible heritage craftsmanship with exquisite artistry.

Hanbok designer Kim Jeong-ah, who has worked on world-class events such as the Seoul Olympics and the Korea-Japan World Cup, ingeniously blended the Chinese peony with the Korean mugunghwa (rose of Sharon). Translating the cultural symbols of both nations into design language, she expressed her respect and anticipation for the fusion of Chinese and Korean cultures through beautiful garments.

What was particularly noteworthy was that Korean models wore Chinese qipao, while Chinese models donned traditional Hanbok, interpreting the beauty of each other's cultures. This dialogue through attire, transcending the barriers of language, is a vivid expression of the cultural essence of "each beauty in its own way, and beauty shared by all." Silver-haired models from both countries took to the runway with confident and elegant strides, demonstrating through their presence that fashion knows no age limit and friendship spans across mountains and seas.

The successful hosting of this exchange event was not only a dialogue of fashion but also a mutual appreciation of civilizations. Yantai, the beautiful coastal city, is writing a new chapter of "each beauty in its own way, and beauty shared by all" with an attitude of openness and inclusiveness.

The event was guided by the Information Office of the Yantai Municipal People's Government and the Office of the Working Committee and Management Committee of the Yantai High-tech Zone. It was hosted by the Shandong Korean Media Center and the Preparatory Committee of the China Beauty Business Federation, and co-organized by Yantai China International Travel Service Co., Ltd. and the Korea Mugunghwa Hanbok Culture and Art Troupe.
