According to the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, after district and county recommendations, expert reviews, and public announcements, 63 place names have been designated as Yantai's second batch of municipal protected place names. In accordance with the Classification and Category Code Rules for Place Names, the newly announced names include 4 natural geographical entities, 4 administrative regions or other areas, 4 residential settlements, 2 transportation facilities with naming significance, and 49 memorial sites, tourist attractions, and other buildings with naming significance.

It is reported that, together with the first batch of protected place names, Yantai now has a total of 227 entries in its municipal protected place name list. These place names hold significant historical and cultural value, reflect the city's historical context, and highlight Yantai's unique cultural characteristics. Place name signs are legally mandated markers; all units and individuals have the obligation to protect them and must not move, damage, alter, or remove them without authorization. In the next phase, civil affairs departments at all levels in the city will prioritize protection and rational utilization of these names through methods such as digital information collection, archiving, development of cultural products, derivative naming, and revitalization.
