Jiaodong.Net, June 27, 2025 (Reporter Wu Yong) – On June 27, 2025, the launch ceremony of the 2025 Yantai Red Culture Theme Month & Exhibition on a Century of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs in Yantai was held at the Jiaodong Revolutionary Memorial Hall. This year’s Red Culture Theme Month, themed “Remembering History, Honoring Martyrs, Cherishing Peace, and Creating the Future”, will run until October 2025. During this period, over 160 online and offline red-themed events will be held at cultural and museum venues across the city, telling red stories and amplifying red voices from multiple perspectives.

The event unveiled a detailed schedule of activities for the Yantai Red Culture Theme Month. During the period, a diverse range of red cultural activities will be rolled out across the city, covering exhibitions, lectures, performances, study tours, cultural and creative products, and other fields. These activities aim to comprehensively showcase Yantai’s deep-rooted red cultural heritage, forming a three-dimensional activity framework integrating “online + offline” and “exhibition + experience”. For the first time, a promotional video for the “I Speak for Rural Villages in Old Revolutionary Bases” project was released, highlighting the role of “Yantai’s Red Cultural Museum Light Cavalry” as “spokespersons” for rural red culture, and illuminating the path of rural revitalization with the red spirit.

To further empower the development of red culture, the event included a multi-party cooperation signing session. On site, Yantai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Party History Research Institute of the CPC Yantai Municipal Committee signed a cooperation agreement on innovative development, promoting in-depth integration of Party history with culture and tourism, and providing an innovative practical path for carrying forward red culture and empowering the growth of the cultural and tourism industry. Meanwhile, the signing of red-themed study tour cooperation projects drew much attention. Yantai Museum (Jiaodong Revolutionary Memorial Hall) partnered with Yangzheng Primary School, and the Landmine Warfare Memorial Hall joined hands with the School of Marxism of Yantai Vocational College, respectively signing cooperation agreements to launch a new model of museum-school collaboration, transforming red study tours into “mobile ideological and political classrooms”.

At the launch ceremony, Zhang Yaping, a docent from Yantai Museum, delivered a speech titled “Witnessed by Mountains and Seas: The Past and Present of Zhifu Club”, recounting the humiliation and resistance in Yantai’s modern diplomatic history. Wang Yunqi, a student from Nantong Road Primary School, presented a speech titled “Inheriting the Spirit of Landmine Warfare, Being a Young Hero of the New Era”, showcasing the legend of people’s war created by the Haiyang militia in the Landmine Warfare. The poetry recital “Heroes” and the song “Never Forget Why We Started” pushed the on-site atmosphere to a climax, paying tribute to the heroes’ perseverance and passing on eternal beliefs.

The Exhibition on a Century of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs in Yantai, which kicked off simultaneously, followed the thread “From the Humiliation of Opening Port to the Leading Guidance of Red Sails”. Through cultural relics and archives, it systematically presented red diplomatic and foreign affairs events in Yantai from the outbreak of the Second Opium War to the founding of New China, demonstrating the unyielding will of Yantai’s people in the face of aggression from foreign powers. The precious historical materials attracted many visitors to pause and reflect.
