Yantai Institute of Technology Achieves Outstanding Results in the First Shandong Youth Innovation and Creative Design Competition

On May 10, 2025, the first Shandong Youth Innovation and Creative Design Competition concluded in Heze City. The urban cultural and creative work Whale Appearance in Yantai submitted by the School of Information Engineering of Yantai Institute of Technology won the first prize.

With the theme of Qilu-Style Youth, Trendsetters in Shandong, the competition was jointly organized by the Communist Youth League Shandong Provincial Committee and the Shandong Student Federation. Since its launched in March 2025, the competition has been carried out in 16 cities and more than 130 universities across the province, receiving active responses and enthusiastic participation from young people province-wide. A total of 3,960 entries from various regions of the province were received, covering multiple design fields, such as cultural and creative products of intangible cultural heritage, urban cultural and creative works, brand images, and original Chinese-style clothing, fully demonstrating the innovative spirit and creative talent of the youth in Shandong.

The urban cultural and creative work Whale Appearance in Yantai was guided by the teacher Zhu Qing from the School of Information Engineering of Yantai Institute of Technology and developed by a student team. The work delves deep into Yantai’s marine cultural characteristics and perfectly integrates the city’s regional traits with modern design through unique creativity and exquisite craftsmanship. It vividly showcases Yantai’s urban charm and marine style, standing out among numerous entries and gaining high recognition from judges and experts. This achievement has injected new vitality into the development of Yantai’s cultural and creative industry.
