During the Spring Festival holiday, the Yantai Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau organized over 230 cultural and tourism events in six major categories: Expanding Activities of Seven Actions of Culture and Tourism, Snake Dance for the New Year Gala, Ancient Charm of the Year: Intangible Cultural Heritage and Folk Customs, Art Enlivens the Whole City: Stage Performances, Enjoy New Spring: Venue Visits, and Enjoying Leisure: Winter Tour of the Fairyland. These events allowed citizens and visitors to enjoy the holiday in a truly festive atmosphere.
Citizens and Tourists Seek the Atmosphere of the Spring Festival in Folk Customs
From pasting Spring Festival couplets and praying for good fortune in the new year to visiting temple fairs and so on, we celebrated the first Chinese New Year after the successful inscription of the Spring Festival as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage item. The folk culture tours that embody people's yearning for a better life make the atmosphere of the Spring Festival more authentic.
The atmosphere of the Spring Festival can be savored in Tradition. Places, such as the Tianhou Palace and Nanshan in Longkou, have successively launched characteristic Spring Festival blessing activities, attracting citizens and tourists to stop and make good wishes. The 2025 series of activities of Appreciating Intangible Cultural Heritage during Festivals were carried out simultaneously in the eight intangible cultural heritage exhibition halls in Suochengli, an ancient architectural complex in Zhifu District, Yantai. Yantai Cultural Center launched intangible cultural heritage exhibition activities represented by the paper-cut works exhibition with the theme of the Eight Immortals, making the Spring Festival holiday full of traditional atmosphere.
The atmosphere of the Spring Festival can also be felt by visiting. The temple fairs at Yuhuangding, Penglai Pavilion, Nanshan in Longkou, and many other places were crowded with people. Folk Yangko dance performances, such as the New Year Celebration of Haiyang Yangko Dance, the Penglai Fairyland Yangko Dance Exhibition, and the Good Luck in 2025 Year art performance in Qixia were lively launched. On February 8th, the 2025 Earth in Jubilation Folk Yangko Dance Performance to celebrate the Spring Festival will also invite characteristic Yangko dance teams such as Chaoshan Yingge Dance, Shanghe Drum Yangko Dance in Jinan, Deping Yangko Dance in Dezhou, and Haiyang Yangko Dance to gather in Yantai.
