Yantai Will Develop Over 40 Industrial Design Centers by the End of This Year.
On September 29th, the Information Office of Yantai Municipal People's Government held a press conference to announce the achievements of the 2024 World Industrial Design Conference. At the conference, Zhang Zhenggong, Deputy Director of the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Yantai Municipality, answered reporters' questions about how Yantai plans to leverage the conference to create a new brand for the city as a hub for industrial design, among other topics.
Zhang Zhenggong explained that, moving forward, Yantai will take the successful holding of the conference as an opportunity to accelerate the integration of industrial design with the manufacturing industry, deepen domestic and international exchanges and cooperation, continuously enhance the influence of "Yantai Design", and strive for new breakthroughs in areas such as the cultivation of industrial design carriers, the improvement of innovation capabilities, and the creation of development models.
Give play to the exemplary and leading role of industrial design industrial parks. The city will leverage the leading and exemplary roles of the leading and affiliated parks in the industrial design industry chain. Key projects such as the Cultural and Creative Industrial Park in the Industrial Design Town, the 1861 Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, and the Cultural and Tourism Theme Park at the Changrong Cement Factory will be advanced to create industrial design characteristic parks with prominent industrial characteristics, concentrated design elements, shared service platforms, and exemplary and leading functions. In collaboration with enterprises and research institutes such as Wanhua Chemical Group Co.,Ltd, Haicheng Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd, and the Yantai Research Institute of Harbin Engineering University, a number of "headquarters economy + industrial design" projects will be constructed. By leveraging key parks, enterprises, projects, and enhancing resource integration, the city will strive to attract and develop a number of well-known industrial design enterprises and institutions at home and abroad with strong driving force and great influence.
Give play to the resource-driving role of leading industrial design enterprises. Yantai will continuously enhance the public service capabilities of design innovation platforms such as the Shandong Industrial Design Institute and Uniorange, and promote the construction of facilities such as the digital prototype innovation workshops, the prototype innovation labs, the master workshops, and the digital cultural and creative studios. The city will also build the National Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Design Institute with high standards, enhance the design innovation capabilities in intelligent manufacturing, key equipment, core devices, and new process technologies, and actively carry out research on key topics of the Industrial Design Innovation Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. More than 10 "Industrial Design + Industrial Chain" matchmaking activities will be organized annually, striving to provide public services such as design tools, design standards, inspection and testing, achievement transformation, and intellectual property protection to more than 200 enterprises in the city, especially SMEs.
Give play to the role of industrial design in empowering key industries. Yantai will advance the staged development of national, provincial, and municipal industrial design centers, and establish more than 40 new industrial design centers within this year. The city will also continuously hold training and exchange activities, such as the Industrial Design Lecture, the Practical Training Courses at the China Industrial Design United Innovation College, and encourage enterprises to strengthen industrial design innovation. Yantai will leverage the intellectual support role of industrial design serving the enterprises expert group, strengthen its connection with key industrial chains, districts and cities, and enterprises, visit and serve more than 100 enterprises every year. The city strives to make industrial design a powerful engine driving the development of New Quality Productive Forces in Yantai.
