The Changdao Fishermen Song originates from Tuoji Island and has a history spanning over 300 years. This song is performed through shouting, calling, and coordinated singing. The leader sings with confidence and grandeur, while the chorus responds in unity and determination. The call-and-response style, characterized by octave leaps in pitch, creates a powerful effect, with the chorus beginning almost immediately after the leader's final note. This dynamic interaction fosters a sense of unity, cohesion, and authority, with an energy reminiscent of waves crashing against the shore.

Created by fishermen who have spent generations working at sea, the song was an essential part of maritime life during the era of sailboats. It helped organize labor, boost morale, and strengthen community bonds. In critical moments, it could stir emotions, enhance strength, and provide a sense of invincible power. Performed without instruments, the song resonates with the notes of Gong and Zhi, embodying a natural style.
