The Yantai Industrial Design Town is scheduled to be fully completed and operational by 2025, with an expected output value exceeding 10 billion yuan.

On June 6, the Information Office of Yantai Municipal People's Government hosted the seventh press conference in the "Focusing on Chain Development" series, with a special session dedicated to the industrial design industry chain. During the conference, Wang Yuanyun, the person in charge of the Yantai High-tech Zone Administrative Committee and a deputy county-level official, answered questions from reporters regarding issues such as the progress of the Industrial Design Town.

Wang Yuanyun stated that industrial parks are crucial platforms for promoting new industrialization and enhancing the modernization of industrial chains. The Industrial Design Town is the province's first industrial design-centered industrial park and serves as a key element in Yantai's efforts to build a "City of Design". Since the Yantai Municipal Government designated the High-tech Zone as the main entity responsible for planning and construction on May 19, 2022, the project has been progressing rapidly, achieving notable achievements in construction and investment attraction.

In terms of park planning, three major segments have been defined: "design empowerment, industrial support, and commercial support". The design empowerment sector, represented by the Prototype Innovation Workshop and the Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, attracts well-known design institutions and gathers various design masters. Building on the strengths of the High-tech Zone, the industrial support sector has developed three key industrial parks focused on intelligent manufacturing, headquarters economy, and electronic information, creating a new business model that interacts and integrates with the design industry. The commercial support sector is divided into three parts: the Lake-view Hotel, the High-end Business District, and the Design Square, creating an industrial design-themed park that integrates the development of "industry, academia, research, tourism, and commerce".

In terms of park construction, an innovative approach combining demolition, preservation, renovation, and construction has been implemented. With a cumulative investment of 630 million yuan, 25 enterprises have been relocated and their facilities renovated, and over 70,000 square meters of outdated factory buildings have been renovated. Infrastructure improvements, including the lakeside ecological landscape, have been completed. Adhering to the two-pronged approach of independent development by platform companies and attracting park operators, the principal structure of the Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park has been completed; the main body of the first phase of the Headquarters Economy Industrial Park has reached the topping-out stage, and the second phase is expected to be completed by the end of the year; the Cultural and Creative Industrial Park saw the rapid construction of 22 buildings just over six months after land acquisition, all of which will be completed within the year; the Lake-view Hotel, High-end Business District, and Electronic Information Industrial Park are expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2025.

In terms of park investment attraction, efforts have been made to pursue both construction and investment attraction simultaneously. A comprehensive series of "3+N" investment attraction policies that benefit the industrial economy, headquarters economy, and market entities have been rolled out. Taking the Industrial Design Town as the central focus for investment attraction, more than 80 different types of projects with a total investment of 9 billion yuan have been attracted. It is planned that the Industrial Design Town will be fully completed and operational by 2025. After reaching full operational capacity and production in 2027, it will gather more than 1,000 professional design talents, over 100 high-end innovation institutions, and more than 300 high-quality enterprises, attaining an output value of industrial design services surpassing 10 billion yuan.
