“Cultural and Creative Design Empowering Shandong Handmade Industry” Event Held in Yantai
On the morning of March 17, experts in cultural creativity gathered in Yantai to explore the inheritance and innovation of Yantai's handmade products. The “Cultural and Creative Design Empowering Shandong Handmade Industry” event, held at the Yantai Orient Haitian Hotel, was hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and organized by the Shandong Cultural and Creative Design Industry Association and the Publicity Department of the CPC Yantai Municipal Committee. The event brought together experts from consulting teams and innovative design teams, along with leaders in the key handmade enterprises, cultural and creative enterprises, and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) inheritors in Yantai, to discuss the “Yantai Path” for empowering Shandong's handmade industry through cultural and creative design.
How does ICH come to life to offer greater value? Experts in cultural and creative design shared their valuable answers, offering innovative ideas and suggestions in light of specific conditions for Yantai’s handmade enterprises. Experts and enterprise leaders discussed topics such as Yantai paper-cutting, Yantai Woolen Needlepoint Tapestry and gourd pyrography, exploring various aspects including development, design, packaging, branding, and innovative promotion of handmade products, working together to find solutions for the growth of the handmade craft industry. “The experts provided accurate advice on the challenges faced by different enterprises, and we all learned a lot from this opportunity,” said Yang Weiwei, Project Manager of Yantai “The Immortal Shows the Way” (Xian Ren Zhi Lu) Culture Communication Company.
“Yantai has great development potential due to its rich culture and beautiful scenery. Additionally, people have a strong desire for a better life. These are important foundations for promoting the cultural industry,” said Sun Meihua, president of the Shandong Cultural and Creative Design Industry Association and chairman of Shandong Quanyun Cultural and Creative Industry Group. When discussing the potential of Yantai’s handmade product industry, she emphasized that Yantai's creative design teams should further collaborate with enterprises, focusing on branding, packaging, and intellectual property (IP). Governments, enterprises, and other industries should strengthen cooperation to support key handmade enterprises, projects, and industrial clusters in order to help them thrive.
This event not only provided new ideas for the research, creation, and sales of Yantai’s ICH industry and cultural and creative enterprises, but also offered new pathways for the industrialization, systematization, and quality development of ICH creative products. According to a relevant official from the Yantai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Yantai will focus on four key aspects: expanding the “Street of ICH Creative Products”, building the Yantai Comprehensive Exhibition Center for Shandong Handmade Crafts as a new internet-famous destination, establishing an ICH creative product operation center, and creating a digital platform for ICH creative industries.
In the future, the “Cultural and Creative Design Empowering Shandong Handmade Industry” event will continue to collaborate with other cities in Shandong Province, providing creative design empowerment services for industries, brand enterprises, individual operators, and ICH inheritors involved with handmade products, supporting the high-quality development of Shandong's handmade industry.
